This is the official logo of the Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie (VOC), also known as The United East India Company. The VOC was the world’s first multinational and was very successful, however The Company also used questionable means to acquire its success. Many Dutch citizens are not proud of this, but acknowledge it is part of their history to learn from.

The spelling Malakka refers to the Dutch period, Malacca for the English period while modern-day spelling is Melaka.

Curating the stories of families who are piecing together their Dutch ancestry today. Giving them the recognition they deserve because Dutch Melakan history is our Malaysian history.

Batik Belanda: Artwork of Eliza Van Zuylen (1863-1947) a Dutch Indonesian, entrepreneur and pioneer in the batik art industry. She was the great-grand daughter of a wealthy merchant and resident of Melaka, Adriaan Koek (b.1795- d. 1825).
