An Online Exhibition About Dutch Malakka

Discover our Malaysian-Dutch heritage through 360° Tours, and an interactive game, and get to know families of today who are finding new ways of what it means to be Dutch Eurasian.

This is the official logo of the Vereenigde Oost Indische Compagnie (VOC), also known as The United East India Company. The VOC was the world’s first multinational and was very successful,  however The Company also used questionable means to acquire its success. Many Dutch citizens are not proud of this, but acknowledge it is part of their history to learn from.

The VOC or Dutch East Trading Company has been touted  as the single richest conglomerate of its time, estimating a net worth of USD8.2 trillion. It was also known as 'The Company.'

DISCOVER MALAKKA

The spelling Malakka refers to the Dutch period, Malacca for the English period while modern-day spelling is Melaka.

Take a walk through the Dutch Administrative Quarters or find out about the families who once lived in Melaka during the Dutch occupation.

Batik Belanda: Artwork of Eliza Van Zuylen (1863-1947) a Dutch Indonesian, entrepreneur and pioneer in the batik art industry. She was the great-grand daughter of a wealthy merchant and resident of Melaka, Adriaan Koek (b.1795- d. 1825).
